Extension of 10 Year Tourist Visa

Hello and Good Day.

I am a 10-year tourist visa allowing for multiple entries. I can enter and leave China every two months. My question is the following: I am currently in China however due to the ongoing situation concerning the corona virus I would like to obtain a visa extension of 1 to 2 months before exiting China. Would it be possible to obtain an extension without losing my 10-year visa? Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

That apparently is up to the local National Immigration Administration office, although right now the wise choice is to leave immediately if you don't have family there. The situation has not yet hit rock bottom and there is no point in staying in a place where you (as a foreigner) can't get adequate care.

Brian, you can get a visa extension of 1 month before exiting China. This will not void your 10-year visa.

Not true. A multiple-entry visa is voided whenever the holder applies for an extension.
