Is either of those visas difficult to obtain with multiple entry?

I hear that is difficult to obtain multiple entry visas even the student visa, is this true? What could be a possibility that they wouldn’t allow me a multiple entry?

It's difficult to get a multiple-entry visa, but if you wan to get a student visa, you can possibly get it and use it to apply for a residence in China, which can work as a multiple entry visa.

X2 visas are usually single-entry unless you are a U.S. resident. X1 visa holders will always get single-entry visas because you travel on the residence permit you get after arrival and not the visa itself.
