About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Coronavirus and misdemeanor question

Hello,
I have an 11 hour layover scheduled in Beijing at the end of April. Has the Coronavirus has any impact on the transit without visa process and do you expect it will? I imagine that would be pretty newsworthy if they suspended it.

Also, I had a misdemeanor DUI 7+ years ago when I was in college. Do they ask about or verify criminal charges?
I have disclosed it on a few visa applications before (Brazil, Australia) and have had no issues.

Thank you!

It doesn't at this point and now some have reported that it is easier to get a temporary entry permit than before. If, however, your destination country still has restrictions on persons travelling from Mainland China in April, then it is likely that you will be either quarantined for 14 days or refused entry there.

No questions on criminality are asked on the arrival card IIRC. DUI is also not a criminal code offense in Mainland China anyway. (Be aware that you will not be allowed into Canada, however.)
