About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Can I take a job in China at the age of 60?

I am 60 and have an employer in China that is very keen to have me come and work for them. On the visa points system I score 79, so I would easily be in the B category, but not A. Will it be possible for me to get a work visa? If not, are there any other alternatives?

That is up to the result of the work permit petition. They generally will not refuse a visa application if your petition has gone through. The isuance of residence permit should also be OK but that's harder to tell (although a state-owned Enterprise or anything linked to the state should have a near-100 success rate).

Thanks, not sure how the petition process works, but at least it does not sound like a flat out 'no chance'!

I agree with John Doe. China has now adopted a point system for work visa applicants. They just care about the total point you can get, not refusing your visa simply for the low point in one section.
