Flying from Vienna to Melbourne via Urumqi and Guangzhou

Hi,
I'm flying to Melbourne from Vienna via Urumqi and Guangzhou. I have a layover in Urumqi that is stated as taking 2 hours and 10 minutes, then a 3 and a half hour layover in Guangzhou. Do I need a visa for Urumqi? As far as I understand you can be in Urumqi airport for 2 hours without a visa, will the extra 10 minutes prove a problem here?
Thanks

I guess you fly China Southern?

Then you don't need a visa for Urumqi.

But I would avoid any transfers through China at the moment.
