Query on the 144 hr visa

We are arriving in Shanghai on the night of 29th April and will be staying in Shanghai for 3 nights. We leave from Shanghai Cruise Terminal on Saturday 2nd May at 8pm for a 16 night cruise to Singapore. Would my wife and myself qualify for the 144 hour visa and if so how easy is to get.
How do we apply for this visa if we qualify?

Dear, if you fly from Australia to Shanghai and then depart for Singapore within 144hrs, both of you qualify for the 144h visa-free transit. It's quite easy to get it. Actually it's not a visa, but visa-free transit. You need to inform your airline of the intention to use this before boarding. Upon arrival at the Shanghai Airport, then follow the direction signs to the 144h visa-free transit counter to make the application.
