About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Two layovers in China

Hello! Can I make use of of the 144-hour visa when I had another short layover in another Chinese city? Air China offers flights from Australia to Chengdu (3hrs layover, staying at the airport only), then flying to Shanghai, them back home to Europe. So can I get the 144-visa in Shanghai if I had the other short layover in China on the same trip?
Thank you!

No. The stop in Chengdu automatically limits you to 24 hours transit without visa in China.
