About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Sao Paulo > Doha > Shanghai > Hong Kong > Shenzhen > Hong Kong > Shanghai > Doha > Sao Paulo

Hi!

I start my trip in Sao Paulo and stay in Doha for 3 days, then fly to Shanghai and stay for 4 days, then I go to Hong Kong and stay for 7 days (at that time I would like to visit Shenzhen on a 1-day trip) at back to Hong Kong I have a flight to Shanghai again for a 10 hour connection until I return to Doha and take another flight to Sao Paulo.

Am I eligible for a transit visa?

You don't need a visa for your stays in Shanghai (the 24 or 144-hour transit is a visa waiver) by presenting your confirmed outbound ticket and proof of accomodation. For Shenzhen you will need to pay for a visa on arrival at Luo Hu/Lowu if on foot (or by subway), Huanggang if by car, and Shekou if by ferry. Keep in mind that as of 2018 you will be rejected for a VOA if your passport has a Turkish stamp, or if your passport is considered too new (e.g., issued within the last 12 months, or have no entry stamps or visas). The latter problem can be solved by bringing your old passport (but don't if you have been to Turkey on that passport).
