About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

My flight is Sao Paulo - Beijing - Bangkok.

I would like to use the 144 hour free visa to visit Beijing for 4 days and then to bangkok. My flight back is bangkok - shanghai - sao paulo. Am I going to have problems with immigration for making a connection in shanghai? Remembering that I will visit only Beijing. Thank you

Sao Paulo-Beijing- Bangkok-Shanghai-Sao Paulo is absolutely fine for transit without visa twice, assuming your passport qualifies. Why do you wonder if you will have problems in Shanghai?

Ah, yet another example of people “forgetting” to include their full itinerary!

I think that Bruno has in mind the fact that there are no direct flights between Shanghai and Sao Paulo. In my opinion, Bruno will make a connection in Shanghai to a domestic flight for Beijing to catch the flight back home to Sao Paulo. If I'm right, then Bruno should take care that the entire transit in China is less than 24 hours to be eligible for 24 hour visa free transit.

Also, the flight from Sao Paulo to Beijing and vice versa is not a nonstop one, but it has a layover in Madrid, but this detail is just fine. To conclude, again If I'm right, the plan is doable, but the transfer through China on the way back, has to be carefully planned, not to exceed 24 hours from the first landing, in this case in Shanghai until the last departure, in this case from Beijing.
