It is irrelevant how many flights you will have before and after your crucial portion of the itinerary that is, I will repeat:
Munich - Shanghai - Singapore
So, your flights Munich to Shanghai and Shanghai to Singapore have to be nonstop. Everything before Munich and after Singapore is irrelevant and really does not interests Chinese immigration authorities.
You will print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. There has to be a 14 digit number (this is a flight ticket number) visible on your printout for each of your flight tickets. You will declare at check-in in Munich that you will travel to Singapore via Shanghai using 144 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection, you will be allowed to board the plane.
Upon your arrival in Shanghai, you will follow the signs and you will reach 144 hour visa free transit counter where you will fill out a blue form. When you are done with it, you will hand over your documents to Chinese immigration authorities and after a short inspection, you will get a stamp in your passport (for free - there is no charge) and you will be allowed to exit the airport.
Basically, this is it.
