Booking ticket for bullet train

Do I have to prebook high speed train tickets in advance or can I buy seats 2nd class on the day?

Both are fine. In fact it depends on ticket availability. If many tickets available on the train you want, both options works. If only limited tickets left, you'd better to book online to secure a ticket in advance.
