About:China Visa on Arrival

I am flying Australia to Malaysia[4 days] then I would like to fly to Xiamen for 4 days
then fly back to Malaysia for8 days then back to Australia. I am an Australian citizen
and last year got a Chinese visa. can I get a voa at Xiamen airport?

No, unfortunately Xiamen VOA, although you can read about it here and there, is a relic of the past. It is nonexistent.

If you intend to bypass a visa, maybe you could think about introducing Taiwan or Singapore into your itinerary. You can create an itinerary that will be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. For example:

Malaysia - Taiwan - Xiamen - Malaysia

or even better

Malaysia - Xiamen - Singapore - Malaysia
