Yes, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai area if your citizenship is among 53 eligible citizenship. Of course, you are not allowed to have any additional stops within mainland China beside Shanghai, of course.

You will print out your flight tickets and also an accommodation booking confirmation for at least for the first overnight in Shanghai.

By the way, this is not 144 hours visa, but 144 hour visa free transit. In other words, there is no visa at all.
