US citizen on student visa in China wanting to convert to tourist visa

I am a US citizen with a student visa/ resident permit studying in China. The visa is valid until March 30 after which I want to travel in China for 2 months. Is it possible to change my student visa to a tourist visa at the Chinese visa center in Seoul?
