China visa for Canadians

Hi,
I am Canadian. I’ll arrive to Beijing and stay for 5 days, then I will go to Malaysia. After Malaysia, I will re-enter China through Shanghai and stay there another 5 days and then flight back to Canada. I understand we can stay in China for 144 hours (6 days) counting from the first hour of the following day to your arrival without a visa. However, I’m still thinking about the need of a multi-entry visa. Should I get the visa? Or as long as I don’t exceed the 144 hours limit after entering it will be okay?

Thank you

Yoya, you can make use of the 144h visa-free transit. However, be aware that you can only stop on one 144h visa-free transit zone. For your trip from Canada to Malaysia, make sure that you don't have layovers in other Chinese cities except Beijing. For your return trip, don't stop over other Chinese cities except Shanghai.
