About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Sri Lanka Beijing Shanghai Toronto. Shanghai is only transit within the Airport to change planes not even 3 hours. Can you please explain why we dont qualify for 144 hours visa free? We can change our itinerary depending on your advise. Thank you kindly

It doesn't matter if you stay inside the airport. The flight must be non-stop to the third country. Its a domestic flight between Beijing and Shanghai which requires visas. There are other options that only have one mainland chinese landing. China Eastern has single landing options. Another is Sri lankan to Beijing and the Air Canada to Toronto
