About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa for Shanghai, China

We are cruising from Australia in April this year calling at Shanghai for one day on 1st May after leaving Hong Kong 3 days previously. The next port is Busan in South Korea. Are we eligible for the 144 day visa free permit and do we have to apply for this before we leave?
Thanks

HK-Shanghai-Busan is fine for the 24h twov when your stay in Shanghai is under 24 hours, otherwise you're fine for the 144h twov (if it's longer as 24 hours).
You can't apply for it as it's not a visa.
It's a transit without visa.
