Visa Requirement for a Canadian

I am a Canadian citizen with a Canadian passport and will be on an NCL cruise originating in Singapore and ending in Tokyo, Japan. We are scheduled to be in port in Hong Kong arriving April 20 from 7 am and departing April 21 at 4 pm and in port in Shanghai arriving April 23 at 12 noon and departing April 24 at 4 pm. Do I require a Chinese visa for my stops?

I have read that Canadians are required to attend a Chinese Visa Center to apply for a visa and be photographed and finger printed.

Could you please clarify for me. Thank you.

You do not need a visa if your port of call after Shanghai is in a different country.
