About:China Tourist Visa

Do I need to book hotels before applying for a visa

Canadian.
Going to Shanghai 6 days.
Travelling to Thailand 30-40 days.
Beijing 8 days.
Airplane tickets has been booked Toronto to Shanghai, Shanghai to Bangkok.
Bangkok to Beijing.
Beijing to Toronto.

Yes. Visa centers now want to see the accomodations for your entire trip (if you declare that you will be visiting China twice then they will need to see accomodations for both visits). Booking and canceling hotels, however, are not frowned upon.
