Frank, this sentence is quoted many times and is regarded as Marco Polo's saying. However, I didn't find a proof that it was written by him in his book.

I think you mean tolerant. The words "moderate" and "militant" where not words commonly used back in the 1300's (or even invented to be used in this fashion) so the whole quote is a simple fabrication. Marco Polo wrote about different cultures with fascination, not judgement. This type of remark would have been quite out of character even if the vocabulary was correct.

Marco Polo wrote extensively about the violent and militant (his actual word) Muslims that he encounter in his travels, and his need to acquire an escort after being attacked several times, and nearly beheaded, but such Muslims for being an infidel. You have your information very wrong, I suggest you read his works before pretending to know what he wrote.

This quote is not exact, but yes he did say something similar, this quote has been modernized and therefore can be considered wrong, but he does say that the Militant Muslims prey on the Merchants who are guileless enough to travel alone, should you be Christian the militant will chop your head, while the citizen steals your goods.
