About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

I am arriving via cruise ship for a 1 day (8hr) visit in Shekou. Do I require a visa?

I will be re boarding the ship for onward travel to Hong Kong for a 3 day visit before flying home to the UK. I am confused about what I need.

Vietnam - Shekou - Hong Kong

Are exempt from visa and are granted 24 hour visa free transit.
