144 Visa Exception

Hi, I am flying from US - Shanghai - Hong Kong. I will arrive in Shanghai on Tuesday evening and leave Thursday afternoon. I believe this qualifies for the 144 visa exception. I would just need my passport, my flight ticket to Hong Kong, and my hotel confirmation for Shanghai (we are hitting up Disney). Is there anything else I might need? Want to make sure I am completely covered.

You have properly understood the rules of 144 hour visa free transit and you are definitely eligible for 144 hour TWOV. You should just have in mind that your flights are not allowed to have any additional landing within mainland China beside Shanghai.

You will print out your flight tickets and your accommodation booking confirmation. You will declare at check-in in US that you will travel to Hong Kong via Shanghai using 144 hour visa free transit and after a short inspection of your flight tickets, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon your arrival in Shanghai, you will approach 144 hour visa free transit counter where you will fill out a blue form and shortly after you will get a sticker in your passport and be allowed to exit the airport. That's it.
