visa

Hi I am planning on travelling to Shanghai in April this year to visit and stay with my son who works and lives there. How long before i go can I get my visa and does he have to write a letter of invitation for me? Also do i need to register with local police once I arrive there ?

Jackie, you can apply for your visa one or two months before your intended arrival date. If you will stay at the apartment of your son, you need to get an invitation letter from him along with a copy of his residence permit. And you need to register yourself with the local police within 24 hours after your arrival.

Thank you for this answer. I have booked to go to the embassy on Feb 24th but don`t travel until April 15th so this will be ok ?
