About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

South African citizen transiting through Shanghai to Singapore

I am a South African citizen. I have a flight booked to Singapore via Shanghai. My layover on the way is 6 hours and 4 hours in Shanghai Airport on the way back. Do I need to a apply for a Type G Transit visa?
Or do I qualify for visa-free entry?

Cara, you didn't mention your complete itinerary, so it is hard to offer you a reliable and correct answer.

Anyway, if your itinerary looks like:

X country (different than both mainland China and Singapore) - Shanghai - Singapore

and

Singapore - Shanghai - X country (different than both mainland China and Singapore)

You are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa.
