About:10-Year China Visa for UK Citizens

Can I get visa/permit to live with my Chinese wife in China

I am retired 58 yrs old British citizen living in London and married my Chinese girlfriend this year. She has to move back to live in China next year (2020). Don't think I'm qualified for D visa so which visa/residence permit should I initially apply for if I want to live with her indefinitely in China?

After you get married, you can apply for a Q1 visa to live with her in China. With the Q1 visa, you can get a temporary residence permit. Then you need to renew it annually.

Hi Nathan, do you need to renew it from the UK or can it be done in China.
On the Q1 visa do you need to leave the country every 90 days still?

A Q1 visa does not authorize you to stay in China until you have obtained the associated family-based residence permit which can be valid for between six months and five years. Renewal of a residence permit can only be done within Mainland China so you cannot apply for a renewal if you are not in Mainland China.
