Thomas, I have found several problems within your itinerary.

1. If you have more than one consecutive stop in mainland China as you will have Beijing and Guangzhou, you cannot be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. Two stops limits you to just 24 hour visa free transit. In other words, you have to leave China within 24 hours after your first arrival in China. If you want to stay for more than 24 hours and having more than one stop, you have to obtain a Chinese visa in advance.

2. If you are arriving to Hainan from within mainland China, you cannot use any visa free or visa on arrival options. In other words, you have to arrive to Hainan from some other country or eligible territory like Hong Kong. I can see that you have informed yourself about some details because you were mentioning the necessity of departing to Hainan from Hong Kong.

3. Your return from Hainan cannot be via mainland China, with the exception if you rely on Hainan visa on arrival. In that case, you can enjoy 30 day stay in China, but from that number only 15 days are allowed to stay outside Hainan. In other words, you are granted 30 days and you can spend all those day on Hainan, but you can also split them, as you have said in 25 day for Hainan and 5 days for mainland China.

As you can see, there are some problems within your itinerary, that you can resolve by:

1. Obtaining a Chinese tourist single or double entry visa in advance
2. By limiting your first portion of your mainland Chinese itinerary to 24 hours
3. By changing your itinerary quite significantly.

Please, think about these details and you are free to come here again, so that we can conclude what will be the best solution in your case.
