Malaysian need visa if tranisting for 14 hr in Shanghai?

I'm travelling from Canada to Malaysia and back in March thru Shanghai, will I be able to get a 24 hr transit visa?

Currently, Malaysian passport holders are not eligible for 24h visa-free transit of China, so you may need a visa. Please confirm this with your airline.
