About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I have USA passport wanting 144 hours transit free visa

I am going to Philippines in December 2019 and back to USA mid January 2020
In between, i would like to visit the China particularly Harbin Ice festival between Jan 7 - 12 , 2020 . Would i be eligible for 144 hours visa free?

Harbin only has 72 hours transit without visa. But a bigger problem is that I don't think there is a non-stop flight between Harbin and the Philippines, nor between USA and Harbin. So you would have to route your trip via other countries which do have non-stop flights to Harbin, eg USA-Japan-Harbin-Korea-Philippines. With a US passport it would be much better to apply for a 10-year visa.
