About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

144 hour visa eligible Tianjin

Arriving 22Mar on Celebrity Millenium after leaving South Korea on 20Mar, planning to be on Beijing shore excursions through stay docked at Tianjin until departure on 24Mar for next port Seoul, South Korea. Does this qualify for the 144 hour visa free transit and if so, what paperwork do we need?

South Korea-China-South Korea is not a transit and therefore does not qualify for visa-free transit. You need a visa.

As already mentioned by Saul, you really need a visa obtained in advance.

Anyway, I had something else to comment. I'm looking at the itineraries of the cruise companies and cannot understand that magnitude of, I will say plainly, stupidity. We had so many other examples where the cruise companies are doing exactly that stupid portion of their itinerary:

South Korea - Tianjin (Beijing) - South Korea

With such an itinerary they simply extort from their passengers to obtain visas that would not be necessary by just the slightest effort to change their route.

For example, your itinerary begins in Hong Kong, after that you have:

Taipei - Nagasaki - Jeju - Tianjin (Beijing) - Seoul - Shanghai

If they just have done this:

Taipei - Nagasaki - Tianjin - Seoul - Jeju - Shangai

This would be perfectly eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in both Beijing and Shanghai areas.

I apologize, but I simply had to make this comment because I find it hard to understand why are they doing that when they don't have to be that reckless.
