About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72hrs / 144 hours Visa free transit in Beijing

Hi, I have exhausted all channels and could not find an answer on this.

Flying in from Seoul to Beijing and flying out in 3 days to Hong Kong / Australia. So in theory this would work.

However the problem being it's from a different airline. e.g. Seoul to Beijing on Korean Air, Beijing to Hongkong / Sydney via Cathay Pacific. Would they still grant me the visa? As in all the government sites, it mentioned a "through" air ticket

It’s not a visa. Separate tickets have always been fine.

Thank you Saul, it's very helpful. Knowing the issue I had last time, which I could not get out of the airport due to 5hr transfit made me question and wonder they'd enforce the "through" ticket rule.

They did not mention anywhere on any documentation saying we can't get out due to transit being less than 6 hours. (or maybe I just did not read carefully).

“Transit without visa” and “temporary entry permit” are two separate things. There is no “through ticket rule”. Last time you were denied the entry permit, not the transit without visa. This is very common at Shanghai, and there are multiple posts here about that.
