residence permit cancellation

Due to a family emergency I need to leave my job and return home asap. I have spoken to my school and they have accepted my resignation. The only problem is it will be a bit tight to cancel my work permit/residence permit and transfer onto a short stay visa before I leave. Is it possible to get the process expedited? Surely there is a mechanism in place for this kind of circumstance?

Rosie, actually you can ask your scholl to cancel your work permit and residence permit. You return to your country as soon as possible. It should be fine if you don't go to the local police bureau in person.
