About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a entry visa?

I have a nationality of Finland and I'm planning to be 34 hours in Shangai PVG. My route is BKK - PVG - HEL. (Every flight in the same ticket). Do I need to get an entry visa?? Beforehand, at the airport or do I need to do that at all? Timatic says that nationality of Finland can transit 144 hours.

Just to be cleared it says: "Visa required except for nationals of Finland with a confirmed air ticket to a third country within 144 hours, starting from 00:01 on the day following the day of entry. This facility applies in the following location: PVG Pudong airport." Who says that it's 72 hours?

Is this true? And can you specify what is a Departure / Arrival Card?

Thank you

You don't need a visa. The information in Timatic is current and correct. 72 hours transit without visa was replaced by 144 hours at Shanghai a few years ago. The departure/arrival card is usually distributed by the cabin crew on your flight to China. If not, it is readily available when you arrive at PVG. It is useful to have both your flight ticket and your hotel reservation (including telephone number) printed out on paper.
