Unfortunately, Malaysian citizens are not eligible for any kind of visa free transit at the time being. In other words, regardless of the number of stops within mainland China and the length of your transit, you need a Chinese visa obtained in advance. It is very wise you have asked before any booking because now you can decide in the best way your different travel options.
