About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Thai citizen - 15 hr. layover at Guangzhou airport

Hi,
I will be flying on a return trip with China Southern Airlines from San Francisco to Bangkok with layover at Guangzhou airport for about 15 hr. The airlines offers a free night hotel (Country Garden Airport Kylin Apartment). My questions are:
1. Do I still need a visa just to stay overnight?
2. If yes, can I apply for a temporary entry permit at the time of arrival at Guangzhou airport?
3. Please advise other options.
4. Worst case, can I just sleep in the airport (without going through immigration)?

You are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa.

1. No, you don't any kind of visa. You will travel perfectly visa free.
2. You can definitely apply for a temporary entry permit upon your landing at Guangzhou airport.
3. You simply don't need other options. You situation is crystal clear for visa free transit.
4. You can sleep at the airport, of course. Anyway, since the airline has provided an accommodation, you will print out the confirmation and present it during your application for a temporary entry permit at 24 hour visa free transit counter.
