About:Chinese Embassy in Canada

Canadian citizen holds Mainland Travel Permit for HK and Macao Residents

I will fly from Vancouver direct to Shanghai. Can I use my Mainland Travel Permit for HK and Macao Residents to enter China. Is it true that I have to apply China Visa using my Canadian passport if I fly from Canada?

Yes, if you use you Canadian passport, you will need a visa. If you use HK or Macau passport, you can use the mainland travel permit.

I had flown directly from Toronto to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in Sep 2019, using my Canadian passport and Mainland Travel Permit without any problems.
