proof of onward ticket

How do you receive a ticket for your onward flight, normally you cannot get boarding passes until you are ready to fly. How do you get a ticket that shows departure date and seat?

You just print out your ticket, showing the date and the long ticket number. You don't need a boarding pass. "Confirmed seat" just means you can't fly standby.

You just need your e-ticket, that's the confirmation.
