About:China Tourist Visa

Visa extension change of status

is it possible to first apply for a tourist visa, L visa, and then during the stay lets say I were to find a small job to keep or an internship could I apply for a work visa whilst already in the country?
I want to move to china and start life there but I don't have a job right now, I'd still like to go in the next months. Thank you in advance for helping me out

China is not exactly one of those countries you can just move to on a whim. Legally, change of status while on a short term visa is not allowed, and the government has committed to keep immigration to a minimum by imposing a point system to calculate whether you meet the criteria for a work permit. If you do not meet the criteria then you cannot get a work permit longer than a few months, and that's even when you have managed to find an employer willing to file a petition on your behalf.
