Marriage held overseas and Residence Permit

Hello, my wife is Chinese, we married in Japan, and I am an European. Would like to apply for a residence permit in China (after several Q2 visas), but no clue how/where in China we have to report this marriage held overseas in order to get the marriage certificate needed to apply for the residence permit. Thank you and best regards! M

You need to have your marriage certificate notarized in Japan first, and then take it to the CVASC in Japan for authentication.

Hi Robert, thank you for the reply. One thing complicates the situation: we are now no longer in Japan and the marriage has been registered only in my country in Europe where the procedure is much easier. Any idea how to deal with this situation? Thank you and best regards, M
