You can be relaxed because you can travel on this route perfectly visa free by using 144 hour visa free transit. Your next steps:

- Before you make your check-in in Malaysia, you will book a ferry and not a train because you cannot use a train between Shenzhen and Hong Kong when traveling on 144 hour visa free transit. This is the route between Shenzhen Shekou port to Hong Kong Macau Ferry port. You will book your ticket through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger Transport company website. You will receive an e-confirmation that you will print out and have with you as proof of your transit intention. Also, you will use this e-confirmation printout to collect your real paper ticket at Shekou terminal. Please, be informed that your ferry has to depart from Shekou at least 24 hours and 1 minute after your scheduled arrival by plane to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit.

- You will also print out your flight ticket and have those printouts with you.

- You will declare at check-in in Malaysia that you will travel to Hong Kong via Shenzhen using 144 hour visa free transit and you will present your all tickets. After a short inspection, you will be allowed to board the plane.

- Upon arrival in Shenzhen, you will approach 144 hour visa free transit counter where you will fill out a blue form and again, after a short inspection of your tickets, you will get a sticker in your passport and you will be allowed to exit the airport.

- After the above mentioned formalities, you can travel throughout Guangdong province because when traveling on 144 hour visa free transit, you are not limited to Shenzhen city boundaries only.

- To travel to Hong Kong, you will really have to take exactly that ferry that you have bought your tickets for.

Basically, this it :)

Actually, your departure by ferry should not be within 24 hours!!! It has to be after 24 hours from your scheduled arrival in Shenzhen!!!

So, if you arrive in Shenzhen from Malaysia on 4th at 02:00 (2:00am), the first ferry you can take is on 5th at 02:01 (2:01am).

You have to be in Shenzhen more than 24 hours to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit!

So, you will book your ferry in advance and when you receive an e-confirmation, you will print out that e-confirmation and have that printouts with you. There will be your name on this e-confirmation and this is absolutely necessary detail to be allowed to use this visa free transit option.

144 hour visa free transit is limited to transfers to 3rd countries, but it is not limited to flights only. Use of ships and trains is also allowed, of course, where it is eligible and this is the case with Shenzhen Shekou to Hong Kong ferry. Also, beside countries that are eligible, there are also three Chinese territories that are also eligible: Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau. Although not countries, they are considered as countries for 144 hour visa free transit purposes.

So, your eligible itinerary will be:

Malaysia - Shenzhen (mainland China) - Hong Kong

Just follow the above mentioned and you will enjoy your time in Shenzhen absolutely visa free :)

Part one:

144 hour visa free transit is not limited to flight transit. You can see on this and other websites that literally thousands of travelers are using this option to board on their cruises and also there are many people who prefer a train over a plane and they use a train from Beijing to Hong Kong or Shanghai to Hong Kong.

Guangdong province also allows that travelers take different means of transport like train, ferry or plane. OK, you cannot use a train from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, but it is possible to use train from Guangzhou to Hong Kong. So, using a ferry from Shenzhen Shekou port is eligible port of exit from Guangdong province toward Hong Kong.

The only specific detail about Shenzhen is that you really have to stay there at least 24 hours and 1 minute to be allowed to proceed to Hong Kong and Macau and you can do it only by taking a ferry from Shenzhen Shekou ferry terminal. If a ferry is fine for you, you can do exactly as I have explained above.

South Korean citizens belong to a group of 53 countries that are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit and that situation is uninterrupted from the very beginning of this visa free transit option.

Part two:

Look, I really do not know how to convince you in some additional way that your itinerary:

Kuala Lumpur - Shenzhen - Hong Kong

Is really eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. Really, but really, you are allowed to arrive in Shenzhen by plane and depart after 24 or 48 or 55 or 144 hours later to Hong Kong by ferry that you have to book in advance, i.e. before your departure from Kuala Lumpur. Please, just keep in mind that you will have to bring a printout of the e-confirmation that will be sent to you after you book a ferry ticket and this e-confirmation will be a proof of your transit intention.

Now, it is up to you to decide and if you decide to take this option, you will come here after your successful trip and confirm that everything was really as I was told you :)

Exactly, if you fly by a direct flight from Malaysia and after that take a ferry from Shenzhen Shekou to Hong Kong Macau Ferry terminal, your itinerary will be:

Malaysia - Shenzhen - Hong Kong

This is an eligible itinerary for 144 hour visa free transit. Also, to repeat, when you use 144 hour visa free transit, you are allowed to travel throughout the entire Guangdong province. Also, you will receive an e-confirmation with your name and you will print it out and bring that printout with you. Also, you will declare in Malaysia that you will travel to Hong Kong via Shenzhen using 144 hour visa free transit. You will present your flight and your ferry ticket (e-confirmation) and shortly after, you will be allowed to board the plane. You really don't need any kind of visa.

Your planned dates and timings of arrival in Shenzhen and departure from Shenzhen are definitely and undeniably eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in entire Guangdong province.

Also, this is not a visa. This is a travel without visa - visa free transit. You should use correct terminology to avoid any possible misunderstandings.

I just hope that you will appear here after your successful travel and that you will confirm that your journey was exactly as explained on this website :)
