About:10-year China Visa for US and Canadian Citizens

Canadian but live in China

I want to cancel my working visa in China and change to tourist visa. Can I do that while I'm still in China? Or I have to go another place like HK to do it?

You can do it within China. At the time you cancel your work visa and residence permit, you can apply for a 30-day tourist visa at the local EEA (Exit and Entry Administration).

EEAs within Mainland China will not issue 10-year visas. If you want one your best chance is to apply within Canada.
