Janos, your question is very logical and there are so many people asking exactly this question. For this reason, I invite you to go to the bottom of this site where you will see the link: "More Questions & Answers". Click on that link and a new page will appear where you will see a threat titled: "Transit in Urumqi and Guangzhou". Click on the link, and you will see a good presentation of this particular subject. People are writing about their first hand experiences and since China Southern has introduced that 2 hours and 10 minutes layover, the questions have multiplied. The good thing is that at the time being, both Vienna airport staff and Urumqi airport authorities tolerate these 2 hours and 10 minutes as normal and eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and even longer layovers in Urumqi, if your entire transit time is less than 24 hours long.
