About:Xian Xianyang International Airport

Technical Stop in Xi'an Airport

Greetings,

I am flying from Astana, Kazakhstan with Air China to Jakarta (CGK), Indonesia. From Astana to Beijing, I will have a technical stop like 1 hour 40 minutes long and proceed the same airplane to Beijing and in Beijing will have a layover around 7 hours then, proceed to Indonesia. Do I need a visa for technical stop in Xi'an or I get the 24h free transit visa? Please let me know. Thank you

Hi Nirmala, your route works for the 24h visa free transit as your total transit period in Mainland China is shorter than 24 hours, so you do not need to get a visa in advance. The only thing you need to do is to apply for a 24h temporary entry permit at the border inspection counter when arriving in Xi’an for entering China temporarily.

Another question, is it also applied to the way around right? When i will fly back to Astana (Jakarta - Beijing - Xian (techn stop) - Astana). I will be okay right without any visa for both flights?

Yes, you are right. The opposite route still works for the 24h visa free transit.
