About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Taipei - Guangzhou - Hong Hong

Hi , I'm a danish passport holder. I plan to fly from Taipei to Guangzhou, then travel over land and fly out of Hong Kong. Can I still get a 144 hour transit visa even though I do not have a ticket out of Guangzhou, but from Hong Kong. If not, since its impossible to fly from Guangzhou to Hong Kong, can I use a ferry ticket or train ticket to prove I'm leaving China?

Hi Zupan, thank you for your answer. I have now bought a ticket from Shekou to Macao through the turbo.com.hk website and have a reservation confirmation showing my name, passport number and date of travel. However, it says on the document that I need to collect the ticket min. 30 minutes prior to departure. So I do not have a ticket, only a confirmation of payment for the ticket. Is this still OK?

Christian, your itinerary is eligible for 144 hour visa free transit, anyway we have to clear several details before the final conclusion:

- You have mentioned that there are no direct flights from Guangzhou to Hong Kong, but in reality, there are two flights daily. You can use them, but they are the most expensive option, of course.
- The alternative is to use a ferry or a train
- You can take a ferry from Guangzhou Nansha port and from Shenzhen Shekou port to Hong Kong.
- You can take a train from Guangzhou East to Hong Kong Hung Hom station only. This is a conventional train that takes about 2 hours for that route.
- If you decide to use a ferry, you will have to book a ferry ticket through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger transport company website and there you will get an e-confirmation that you will print out and take it with you. You will have to take exactly that ferry that you have bough your tickets for
- If you decide to use a train, you will have to book it on this website and not the official one because the official (MTR) website does not insert your name on the ticket. You will also receive an e-confirmation that you will print out and have that printout with you. Also, you will have to book this train at least 7 days in advance and also to supply the address in Guangzhou where this ticket will be delivered.

Now, when you know your options, you will make a decision.

Yes, it is definitely OK. As you can see in my post, I have always mentioning an e-confirmation. There is not a ferry company in the area that offers a ticket or at least an e-ticket when booking online. There is only an e-confirmation and that is what you have to print out and bring that printout with you. This will be enough for every authority on your itinerary as a proof of your transit. You will be just fine :)
