About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Round Trip Houston -Shanghai

If my itinerary is Round trip Houston -Shanghai-Houston. Means not going to country C. Is this scenario also 72 hours visa free entry?

Of course not. There is no "visa free entry", only visa-free transit. And you're not in transit so you must get a visa.
