About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can we get a 144-hour visa free transit

We are uk citizens going on a cruise from Tokyo Japan to Shanghai China for 1 day,then 2 days at sea, followed by 2 days in Beijing in China before sailing back to Japan

Its not eligible for the 144 hour visa free transit since you have two mainland Chinese stops.

There is a different kind of transit that you could possibly qualify for. The 15 day visa free Cruise exemption. There are a few rules or Tourist (L) visa needs to be obtained before the trip.

1) you must arrive in Shanghai by boat.
2) You must be received in Shanghai on a prepaid group tour with an approved chinese travel agency
3) You must leave China on the same boat that you entered on.
