About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

Canadian in Japan going to China

Hi.

I'm a Canadian living in Japan and plan to visit China. I've been looking into visas and wonder why there are agencies that help people get visas. Why wouldn't people just go directly to the embassy? What would the advantage be of going to an agency? Wouldn't that be more expensive?

IW, if you apply from Japan, you have to submit the application to the China Visa Application Center, kinds of an agency. It would be more expensive, of course, because you need to pay service fee to the center, but that is just the rule.

What will happen if I go directly to the Chinese embassy in Tokyo to apply for a visa?

They won't accept your application.

So, have the rules changed? When I went to Beijing from Nagoya about 8 years ago, I went to the Chinese embassy in Tokyo and got a visa easily.

Yes, things have changed a lot in the 8 years.

Hm. Anyway, I need to get a visa soon. If I show up at this agency when it opens, how long would I probably have to wait? Can I make a reservation?
