About:Visa on Arrival

144 hours free visa or VOA?

Hello
We will fly to HK and next flight will be from Shenzhen to Bangkok after 5 days. Can we get 144 hours free visa at Louhu or we need VOA?

You will definitely need a VOA. When you travel from Hong Kong or Macau to Guangdong province and you want to use visa free transit (like 144 hour TWOV), you need to fly from Hong Kong to Guangzhou on direct flight. In your case, the good detail is that you will easily obtain a VOA at Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing. The price for Polish citizens is 168 CNY and it is advisable to bring that amount in Chinese cash. You can easily obtain it at one of many Hong Kong money changers. You are also advised to bring a passport size photo to speed up the process. You will also declare that you need a VOA because of your flight from Shenzhen airport and you are advised to have a printout of your flight from Shenzhen to Bangkok.
