How do I get that visa in advanced? What would happen if I arrive in Wuhan from new york? Should I buy a ticket from wuhan to malaysia 1st?

But I never visited this site and not knowing the “unknown” reason for malaysian being denied 24hrs visa free transit, how is that an offence for someone with valid ticket to transit through china? I mean it works when transiting through Guangzhou to New York, one would not expect the return will not be the same. I have checked with the airline at new york, they allow boarding but they do not know what would be the custom officer’s decision at wuhan.

Unfortunately, you really have to obtain a Chinese transit (G) visa in advance because for an undisclosed reasons, Malaysian citizens are not eligible for any kind of visa free transit scheme, including 24 hour visa free transit. Sorry.

Lim, unfortunately, Malaysians are simply not eligible to transit through China visa free at the time being. I honestly don't know the reason for that situation, but this is the actual reality. So, if you are staying in or close to New York you should definitely visit a Chinese consulate and obtain a Chinese transit (G) visa there. You should present your flight ticket and you will fill out visa application form. The visa will be granted to you and you will be able to travel on your original itinerary. Indeed, there is no other solution and you should not even try to board without a visa because you will be denied boarding or even worse case, if you manage to arrive in Wuhan, you will be detained and fined.

Lim, I really understand your doubts. I also feel so sorry for such a development that has stripped Malaysian citizens from a list of eligible countries for 24 hour visa free transit. Anyway, neither your logical reasoning nor my feeling sorry will improve anything and even less make you eligible for 24 hour visa free transit. I can just hope that this is a temporary situation that will be corrected as soon as possible. If you want my honest opinion, this is really an unreasonable decision for some unknown reason and the victims are small and the people that have nothing to do with some games that are played on the levels that are out of the reach for vast majority of those who use this travel option to save some money.
