About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Airports in Shanghai

Hello

I am flying in to Shanghai Pudong airport and leave for Taiwan from Shanghai Hongqai airport. I think I am there for 72 hours (land morning 9th Nov and leave afternoon 12th Nov) but the above information suggests that I have to leave from the same airport if I am there for 72 hours?
Thank you

You are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit if your itinerary is:

X country (different than both mainland China and Taiwan) - Shanghai - Taiwan

If I'm right about your itinerary, then you are perfectly allowed to land at Pudong and depart from Hongqiao airport. In reality, there are also another airports in the Shanghai transit area that are also eligible for this visa free transit scheme. Don't worry, you will be perfectly fine with this.

By the way, 72 hour visa free transit in Shanghai has been replaced by 144 hours visa free transit a couple of years ago.
