About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Traveling from Milan to Bangkok

I'm flying from Milan to Bangkok (Air China, Italian Passport). I have a layover of 15.50 hours in Shanghai (Pudong), therefore I want to explore the city if possible. I was also planning to do the same for the return flight, as my layover will be 18 hours long. What should I do once I get to the airport to get the permit?

Thanks.

When you land in Shanghai, you will approach 24 hour visa free counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit. You have to know that the issuing of the permit always and entirely depends on immigration authorities decision. Anyway, since your layovers are really long, I would say that your chances to be granted one are very good. Also, if your layover is during the night hours, you are advised to book an accommodation in advance and to have a confirmation printout with you.
